Amnesty International is a non-governmental organization founded in London in 1961 to defend the rights of political prisoners. Today, it campaigns to raise awareness of issues such as the protection and relief of refugees, the abolition of the death penalty, and the defense of human rights.

This work, created in 1978, pays homage to Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. One hand holds an execution photograph, while the other is depicted as a hand about to breathe life into another.
